Please can I remind all parents and carers that you should not be parked on, or just stopping to let children out of the car, on the zig zag lines outside the school. Likely due to the weather, we seem to be getting more parents doing this. The lines are outside our school to keep your children safe. Earlier this week there was almost a serious accident because of this. Please park safely around our school.
Christmas Coffee Morning
We are holding our next Coffee Morning on Wednesday 4th December, but it's a coffee morning with a Christmas Theme! One of the tutors from Family Learning is going to join us and hold a Wreath Making Workshop. The workshop will be in the Junior School Studio from 9-11 and there is a small charge of £5 to cover the costs of the greenery etc. Obviously space is limited, so there are only 12 places available (sorry, no younger children this time). If you are interested please call into one of the school offices and pick up a leaflet which will explain how to book your place or contact Lorraine Lines for further details.
Hedgehogs and Paintbrushes
Our Reception classes would be very grateful for donations of toy hedgehogs for the classroom. If you have any your child no longer needs please bring them to the school office. Mrs Hughes would also be grateful for donations of any kind of paintbrushes for Forest School. They can be used or new, big or small. Please take your paintbrushes to the school office. Thank you.
Week commencing 18th November we will be eating meals from Menu 3 of the new menus.
Midday Assistant Vacancy
We currently have a vacancy for a Mid-day Assistant for 2 days a week plus relief cover for absence. If you or someone you know are interested in the position, please collect an application form from the school office.
Pantomime Trip – Monday 2nd December
If you have not already done so, please could we ask you to bring your payment and permission slip to the school office for our trip to the pantomime. If you need another copy of the letter, please download one from our Parents Page on the website or collect a paper copy from the school office. Please could we ask that all payments are made by Friday 22nd November.
Books for our School
I would like to tell you about two schemes to help us get some new books for our school.
• The Sun – Books for Schools. Collect tokens from The Sun newspaper. Bring your tokens to the school office. We need to try to collect 3500 tokens before the closing date of 8th February 2020. The Sun will send us free books for our school.
• The Book People – Big Book Boost. For every £10 you spend with The Book People they will put £1.00 into our book account. Just select Prettygate when you checkout. We can spend the money from our book account on new books for our school.
Christmas at Prettygate Infant School
This week we have sent home details of our school Christmas performances. Entry will be by ticket only for Year 1 and Year 2 and by programme for Reception classes. Please return your slips requesting your tickets/programmes as soon as possible. Please remember to put your child’s name on your slip.
Christmas Secret Room
On Monday 9th December the Friends of Prettygate will be opening The Christmas Secret Room. This is for children to wrap a gift for a special adult (Mum, Dad, Grandparent etc.) The cost is £2.50 per gift (Maximum 2 per child). You can download a letter from the Parents Page or collect one from outside the school office. Please post your slip and payment in the box outside the school office by Friday 29th November.
Some children in Year 2 and Year 1 have been asked to bring in a costume from home to wear for the Christmas performances. If your child brings home a slip about a costume please be aware that this does not need to be a new shop bought costume, although new costumes are fine but homemade or recycled costumes are also acceptable.
