We had a lovely morning on Tuesday entertaining local senior citizens and Year 1 grandparents with our Harvest Celebration. Your children sang beautifully. Thank you to everyone who donated items for the Colchester Food Bank. We also collected just under £90.00 at our retiring collection which we will also pass on to the Food Bank.
Thank you to all the parents who have ordered meals for the whole half term up to Christmas. There are order forms on our website and outside the school office.
When we return after the half term holidays we will be eating from Menu 1 of the new menus. Please speak to the office staff if you have any questions.
Footballs and Toys
As the weather worsens and we are unable to use the grass at lunchtimes, we ask that footballs are not brought to school, as these can be dangerous when used on the playground. Toys should not be brought in to school at any time, unless they have been specifically requested.
Updating Pupils Records
We recently sent home a copy of your child's details that we currently hold in school. We are still waiting for a few of these to be returned. Even if there has been no changes to your circumstances we do need a form returned from everyone. If you need another copy of your details please ask at the school office.
Absence in Term Time
A polite reminder that parents do not have the right to remove their children from school in term time, but may ask permission. Headteachers can only authorise absence when there are exceptional reasons for a child to miss school.
Exceptional reasons are:
• Attendance at a funeral
• Religious observance
• A member of the armed forced required to take leave at a specified time.
• An employee of a company required to take leave at a specified time, and supported by a letter from the company.
Parent Support Group
Mrs Nolan and Mrs Humphreys are running a Parent Support Group after the half term holiday. The first session will take place on Monday 10th November from 7.00pm – 9.00pm. This is an opportunity for parents to get together in a relaxed informal way with cheese and wine and a chance to discuss various topics together. Please download a form from the parent's page of the website and hand it in at the school office if you would like to come along.
Attendance (running at above 97% so far this term) and punctuality have been exceptional. Thank you to everyone who has helped to achieve this.
Lorraine Lines, our Home School Liaison Worker, is holding a coffee morning on Tuesday 11th November from 9.00am. The focus will be the 'Friends of Prettygate' so please come along if you are interested in joining the Friends or if you have any fundraising ideas. Of course if you would just like to call in for a cup of coffee (or tea) you are very welcome.
Peter Pan – Theatre Trip
As you are aware we are taking the children to see the pantomime Peter Pan on December 4th. If you have not yet paid your contribution of £15.00 please would you bring it to the school office in a named envelope as soon as possible after the half term holiday.
Next week, Monday 27th October to Friday 31st October school will be closed for the half term holiday. School re-opens Monday 3rd November. Have a lovely half term with your children.
